@Maria: I am not sure i did understand you the right way but i`ll try: I think this is a question of Identification with some "Programs, Beliefs" or whatever, that could hold us down or slow down our progress. Clearing your Mind and looking inside searching and integrating this "Programs" and let them go could help in this case i think. Thats what DK could have meant.

When the family in which I had been born made arrangements to have this body married, I was the same. And Father, in front of you now, I am the same. On the full moon night of August 1922, at midnight, twenty-six-year-old Nirmala enacted her own spiritual initiation. She explained that the ceremony and its rites were being revealed to her spontaneously as and when they were called for. Although uneducated on the matter, the complex rites corresponded to those of traditional, ancient Vedas (pronounced: “vay-dahs”) perceived by the seers of high consciousness in India and recorded in texts, including the offerings of flowers, the mystical diagrams (yantras) and the fire ceremony (yagna). Guru Dev was said to be a “Master of Masters.” There are several path of yoga (which means “union” with the Divine Eternal Self and God). Most teachers may have gained realization in one of these. Guru Dev was said to have attained mastery in all paths of yoga. He meditated in the forest for 40 years and wild animals around him were tamed. He had to be persuaded to come out to be of help to others in the world, even though his own consciousness certainly emanated benefit to the whole world.
An Invitation and Initiation to receive one’s mantra (pronounced: “mahn-trah”) for profound meditation, a holy/sacred sound from the Vedas (pronounced: “Vay-dahs”), not a man-made language, but the vibrations/impulses of energy in an object or thought perceived by seers ("rishis," pronounced: "Reeshees") of high consciousness in India and recorded into texts.
For the initiation, Guru Dev did the puja (pronounced: “Poo-jah,” a traditional preparation ceremony) with fruit, flowers, incense, etc. and then spoke the mantra to the recipient. He asked the initiate to sit down. He told him to close his (or her) eyes and repeat the mantra easily. Then Guru Dev told him to only think the mantra effortlessly without speaking it any more. Then, after some time he told him to open his eyes slowly.”
“Now you go home and sit and meditate easily for 20 minutes. Then come out slowly, have your breakfast and then do your work. In the evening meditate again for 20 minutes effortlessly. Come out slowly have your evening meal and then you can come to me tomorrow morning and report your experiences.”
So the next morning the meditator was most happy to report all the beautiful experiences he had during the day, business was so good, customers were so friendly and told him he looked so good, he managed to do so many things.
But as to his meditation he was not quite happy. He said: “I felt so happy with my mantra, but I KEPT FORGETTING IT. What can I do about that?!”
A wonderful smile came upon Guru Dev’s face. “FOUND!” he exclaimed. “You have learnt to transcend the mantra! Excellent! You transcended the mantra which wants to go back to the SOURCE (Divine Self). The best thing that can happen! When you are aware of having forgotten the mantra, you quietly pick up the mantra again effortlessly and continue. This was very good meditation. Continue meditating like that and report to me tomorrow morning.” So very happy checkings of the initiate’s meditations followed.
Guru Dev:
“We are told the yoga of stopping the fluctuations of consciousness. The ultimate aim is this, that by the practice of having stopped the fluctuations of the inner self, to experience the Supreme Self. Calm without a wave in any part of the pool of water, that manner a person can see his own face (his Divine Self). That really is the method, naturally stopping the fluctuations of the consciousness is really giving a clear reflection of the imperishable Self in the instrument of inner vision.”
